SPRING FLING 2008
Thank You So Much, Fran and Mark!!!
If there was ever an excuse needed for becoming a member of Golden Gate Basset Rescue, this is it! This members/invited guests only event occurs every Spring.
We had SUCH a good time this past weekend, April 5 & 6, 2008. This annual Spring Fling event is a picnic at the home of Fran and Mark Madden at Mt Aukum. The weather was perfect, the smaller Irises were already in bloom, and the chickens were laying!
We have so many photos to share. Here is a link to one Photobucket album: Spring Fling 2008
The hounds were completely safe in 13 acres of fenced property. The gate in the right hand photo leads down to the iris beds, and meadow land that is regularly patroled by the resident hound-in-chief, Kirby, assisted by Gus and Ralph, the other Madden senior hounds.
Pat Coyner, Terri Lightfoot, Alex and Tim, with Mark Madden, Bud Coyner and Fran Madden behind. Surrounded by hounds, enjoying the sunshine and some liquid refreshment after lunch.
Angus, the dachshund is a wannabe basset!
Scott Beebe and a few others hung out at the top of the hill, watching the games and activities down on the lawn. He was joined by Shawn Dossey. The weather was just about perfect!
Eventually the hounds began to tire. This is Rufus, adopted by Terri Lightfoot with his brother (Rosco). Terri adopted Channing also and it was so good to see her with her tribe in tow.
Darcy was being fostered by Fran and Mark, but she was destined to leave with her new parents, Pat and Bud Coyner! She is a charming hound, who is already completely at home in Carson City, Nevada, with Pat and Bud. Thank you so much!!
Penelope Pitstop, adopted by Carol Schalla last October was there... sweet as ever, talking to us all and having just the best time ever!
Miles, rescued by Cindy Marsh, was enjoying the evening sunshine while he surveyed his domain. Doesn't he look regal? A real hunk of a hound!
And Ralph, just slept the day away.... you should have seen him come to life for dinner though! He came RUNNING up the hill, and when we all went for an evening stroll, he kept trotting along..... I wouldn't have believed it!
Next year.... hope to see more of you!! Sign up for membership here. |
