Golden Gate Basset Rescue welcomes donations of all types. Our tax ID is 38-3723802.
We do not have premises, but our foster homes often need crates, dog beds, food, leashes/martingale collars, dog bowls and toys!
Thank you to SitStay.com, who have recently donated $200 worth of product to us... product that brought in large bids at our SeptemberFest Auction on September 26, 2009.
We also had donations of goods from Hartz following the kennel intake and donations from PetSmart ($7700) and the American Kennel Club ($1000) following that rescue effort!
A business that was closing ("A Bone To Pick") donated three high value pet carriers (for toy dogs, definitely not for bassets!) retailing at $90-$400 each!
We also had several high value donations when the appeal for our Spring Raffle went out, including the use of a condo in Hawaii... that was at our Silent Auction event in 2010, along with several donations of air tickets!
For the same event, we were given some antique furniture and many pieces of quality art and valuable collectibles - if you can't donate, then you need to come and bid!
We're still looking for great items for SeptemberFest (this year it will be called "Howl at the Moon and Whine Festival" as it will be held on October 2, 2010).
Money is always useful of course! We use a system of foster homes, but occasionally we need to find boarding for a needy hound until we can find a foster home. We pay for all the medical costs associated with the care of the rescued dog. That includes routine care like spaying, neutering, vaccinating, heartworm testing, and providing flea and heartworm preventatives. We often get animals that need more extensive vet care. On average each hound costs at least $400.
We rely totally on memberships, donations and our occasional fundraisers for this.
The best way to make a monetary donation is by sending a check, made payable to GGBR, to:
GGBR
PO Box 4958
Petaluma
CA 94955
That way, we don't have to pay fees to credit card companies! We lose around $5 on every $100 donated if you use our PayPal or credit card options. However, if that is easier for you, then we will take your money, however you want to donate it!
Donations can be made via PayPal (please use the button on the left hand menu bar - no PayPal account required and they take credit or debit cards with the Visa sign).
Or via our Secure Merchant Systems account:
We raise most of our money each year by hosting an annual Waddle. This is a great sight, as approximately 100 hounds walk as part of Novato, CA's 4th of July Parade. Participants in the Waddle try to get sponsorship from their friends and colleagues and many set up Firstgiving fundraising pages. Also, setting up a Firstgiving page to raise funds for GGBR as an alternative to receiving birthday or Christmas/Hannukah gifts is always a good idea. Or to raise funds for a specific "special needs" hound you have seen on our website... we welcome all donations raised this way, and if you use this link, the money comes directly to the charity, you just see the record of the amounts raised.
We do have other fundraising (and just pure fun!!) events throughout the year. Watch our Events page for more details.
An easy way to support us at NO COST to yourself, is to use GoodSearch as your default search engine. We get 1c or a little more, for each search you put in.
We have an online store on this site and we encourage you to come back often and see what we have available. For that 'special' occasion, rare collectible, or just because you need a new mug or tshirt! We are especially grateful to one of our members (Patrick Wm Connally) who is an artist. Despite his own disabilities he tirelessly works to create wonderful images of Basset Hounds to adorn our merchandise. Read his Artists Statement here. He donates a portion of his own sales to rescue and will paint your own hound on request. Here are some examples of his artwork:

Also, check out our Zazzle gallery, where you can buy our stuff, or customize many of the items for yourself. You can put photos/artwork/logos on mugs, tshirts, cards for all occasions, hats and other sundry items. In particular, check out the great Keds shoe:

We also have our own store at CafePress. Click the link to check out a full range of exciting items with both the GGBR logo and our 2009 Waddle image. Some of the items are VERY cool!! Check this one out - featuring our Waddle 2009 image:
One very special way you can help us raise funds, while getting something absolutely unique and wonderful is to consider purchasing a portrait of your pet(s) from Joy Steuerwald:
Here are some examples of her work... and Joy is generously donating 10% of the purchase price as a donation if you mention that you saw her link on our website, or adopted your basset hound from us!
