West Coast BROAD (Basset Rescue Organizations Allied Division) is a
network of breed-specific (in this case basset hounds) 501(c)(3) rescue
organizations based in the western United States. We hope to develop
this network so that membership becomes a mark of excellence in the
service we provide to the surrendered, lost, abandoned and abused
basset hounds in our areas. Our network shares knowledge, expertise and
resources to ensure that "No Basset Hound is Left Behind". Hounds that
cannot be taken in by a member rescue can be networked to neighboring
organizations efficiently and easily via this network.
The founding members:
Basset Rescue Connection (BRC)
Basset Rescue Network, Inc (BaRNI/Daphneyland)
Basset Hound Rescue of San Diego (BHRSD)
Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California (BHRSC)
Golden Empire Basset Rescue (GEBR)
Golden Gate Basset Rescue (GGBR)
Recently joined by Arizona Basset Hound Rescue (AZBHR) who also rescue bloodhounds.
At the moment, Basset Rescue of
Central California (BRCC) refused to provide a financial statement, has not filed taxes for many years (if at all) and
is taking a hiatus from rescue. They are therefore denied membership.
We welcome applications for membership from other basset rescue
organizations in the western US, subject to certain criteria (e.g. provision of current financial statements, screening of adopters, spay and neuter of all animals placed for adoption, good standard of customer service including communication with applicants and ongoing support for adopters etc.). For more
information, please contact Addy Dawes at ggbassetlovr@hotmail.com.
NOTE: Basset Rescue of Central California has decided to take a break from Rescue. They were covering Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Merced and San Benito (southern part) Counties - if you live in San Benito, Merced or Mariposa counties, contact us, and if in Fresno, Madera or Mono counties please contact Golden Empire Basset Rescue (http://gebr.org))
