Golden Gate Basset Rescue works closely with our neighboring California basset rescue organizations, and with those in neighboring states.  We are members of the newly formed alliance known as "West Coast BROAD" (Basset Rescue Organizations Allied Division), to improve the procedures we follow in identifying and securing the release to rescue of hounds from shelters across the state.  These are our fellow BROAD colleagues:

  • Golden Empire Basset Rescue (http://www.gebr.org), which covers Kern, Kings, San Luis Obispo, Tulare and Inyo Counties (and, as of June 24, 2009, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Merced and San Benito (southern part) Counties as BRCC has decided to take a break from Rescue due to the poor economic climate and lack of volunteers)
  • Daphneyland, the home of BaRNI (Basset Rescue Network, Inc. - http://www.bassetrescuenetwork.org/), covering much of San Bernadino and Los Angeles, plus Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
  • Basset Rescue of Southern California (http://www.bhrsc.info/), covering Orange, Riverside and Imperial Counties plus some of San Bernadino and Los Angeles
  • Basset Hound Rescue of San Diego (http://www.bassetrescuesandiego.org/frame.htm), covering San Diego
  • Basset Rescue Connection, covering the Greater Los Angeles area for owner surrenders.
  • We also work with Las Vegas Basset Rescue (http://www.rescuebassets.com/), by covering the Reno and northwestern area of Nevada.

We try not to place our dogs to other states or areas of California, but by working with our colleagues we can make sure that home checks are carried out, dogs are transported safely, and we are there to support each other to make sure that "no basset hound is left behind".

NOTE:  Basset Rescue of Central California (http://www.bassetcentral.org/) has unfortunately decided to take a break from Rescue until some time in 2010.  They were covering Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Merced and San Benito (southern part) Counties - if you live in these areas please contact Golden Empire Basset Rescue (http://gebr.org) (They are NOT giving up Rescue completely, just need a break to regroup)

If any other California or Nevada Basset Rescue organization would like to be listed on this site, please contact me (secretary@ggbassetrescue.org).
