Susy

Olive, (formerly known as Susy), had a fear of leashes, [when I adopted her], but she got over that right away. She loves to go on her morning speed walk along T Street (1.1 mile in about 20 minutes). And is eager for any additional walks throughout the day. I have a cat now, as well, and the two of them get along very well. They roll around and chase each other but it's always playful. Everywhere we go, people comment what an adorable dog she is. She loves walking in urban neighborhoods with people on the sidewalks, parks, home improvement stores and nurseries. And of course she loves to chase squirrels up trees.--Tom, Sacramento, 25Jun2024_(adopted 16Feb2024)

Snoopy(Sacramento)

Thought I would update you on Atticus [formerly known as Snoopy (Sacramento)]. He pretty quickly was house trained. He and Scheherazade stopped beating each other up after a couple of weeks and are besties. He has slept through the night in bed since day one. His barking has slowly become nearly non existent and he now barks when he hears something that he doesn't recognize; he's otherwise quiet. He has become an unmotivated office worker.---Michelle K., 15Mar2024. Adopted 19Jan2024.

Red (Napa)

I have had Mr. Gus [formerly known as Red] for 2 months. I am so happy to report that he is thriving. He fits in so great in my home. Gus was a little shy when he arrived but he immediately decided this was his forever home. He loves his dog brother Parker. Gus has brought out the young guy in my current Bassett. Gus is a constant player and is constantly engaging his brother in "rough housing." The one thing about Gus that amazes me is his speed. He races around the house at 90 miles an hour. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to adopt Gus from GGBR. He is everything I was looking for, and so much more. Thank GGBR for all you do. This is my second time adopting from GGBR.__Leslie M, 23Feb2024 (adopted 31Jan2024)

Ulysses
Ulysses

Wally, formerly known as Ulysses, was adopted on 25July2022. See his story and photo, posted under the name of his buddy, Fred (Victorville).

Fred (Victorville)

Fred came to us as we were looking for a buddy for Wally who is also a GGBR dog [formerly known as Ulysses.] Wally, who loves all dogs and Fred are a good match. Fred was a bit timid in the beginning and wanted to be around people ALL the time. He still loves to follow us around the house but seems a bit more comfortable when Wally is nearby. Fred and Wally are both super sweet dogs. He and Wally play hard every morning, zooming around the back yard and stopping for the occasional squirrel sighting. They sleep a good part of the day whether it be inside on the couch or basking in the sun outside and then round two begins in the evening, always being instigated by Wally! Fred is super speedy, definitely the fastest and most athletic of all our 7 previous bassets. Wally tries to keep up with Fred and sometimes cuts him off at the pass or hides behind a bush. They are relentless when it comes to playing and we sometimes stop them because they don't know when to stop!! Fred loves his toys and often races back and forth down the hallway tossing his stuffed toy in the air. Wally and Fred like to play tug a war and they are both SOOO strong. When they settle down at night, they are snuggled on either side of me on the couch, Fred usually on my lap. I call him my weighted blanket! They both bring us so much joy and comedy in our lives.---Louise T., 14Feb2024. (Fred, adopted 28April2023.)
