Hi, I'm Levi!

I am 1 year old and ended up as stray in a shelter in the middle of nowhere, CA when I was pulled by the lovely people of Golden Gate Basset Rescue!

I'm a shy boy at first, with humans and other dogs. I've made friends with dogs of all sizes and ages, but small breed puppies are too much energy for me. Once I know you supply the treats and food, then we become fast friends. I'm learning about how exciting toys are and doing really good with going outside to potty (I love using the dog door). I do have springs for legs and will hop, but I don't jump on you...just close enough for you to pay attention to me. I did, at some point, have a family because I know “sit.“ Although, it's kind of a scary word from my past life and I'll immediately pancake, but my fosters are making it fun with treats! I am learning how to walk on a leash and seem to be getting the hang of it.

I'm not so sure about cats. They are a bit intimidating and I can't tell if they want me to chase them, play, or ignore them. I'm working on short exposures to a few very different kitties, so if you inquire about me, feel free to ask for an update!

I enjoy and appreciate older kids with boundaries. I'm working through trauma of sharing a kennel and food bowl with many other dogs while at the shelter, so I'm working on relieving the stress of protecting my food. I have no problem sharing treats or toys with other dogs around. My human foster sisters are 9 and 13 and I adore them.

I don't destroy toys, blankets, or beds. I appreciate them!

Levi's mix of breeds is anybody's guess. He is a low rider (basset hound, or dachshund) mixed with something else. He is, however, 100% cute and compact. At 30-35 pounds, he is the perfect size!
