The Amazing Tulip is a 7-8 year old  female who was picked up as a stray in Red Bluff. She currently weighs 38 lbs but could still stand to put on a couple more pounds (foster mom is working on it). She underwent a big surgery for mammary cancer, during which both sides of her mammary chains were completely removed. Further testing has shown no signs of cancer spread and she has been given a clean bill of health. She was a super trooper during the whole process.

Tulip absolutely adores all people. She wants nothing more than to cuddle with her human, lean against them, follow them around the house, stare at them adoringly, etc and etc. She is gentle, friendly, and sweet. She was well loved at the veterinarian’s office because she was so easy to work with and went so willingly with any staff member.

Tulip does well with other dogs once she is given a chance to get used to them. She can get a little cranky around sharing her sleeping spots and getting attention, but nothing serious. Take a look at the adorable video of Tulip playing with a young basset housemate. It is so cute! There are also photos of Tulip comfortably snoozing on the sofa with several other dogs. Tulip would do well in a home with other compatible dogs, or as an only dog, where she can be the sole object of attention.

Tulip is still very spry and gets around really well. She does well in a car, both in and out of  a crate. She’s good on a leash and loves leisurely strolls. She is house trained and uses a doggie door but she has had some issues with urinary accidents. It’s very likely she was used as a breeder dog in her previous life and has some mild bladder control problems. She’s been put on the incontinence medication Proin, which seems to be helping. Her foster mom has also found that taking Tulip outside several times a day seems to prevent indoor accidents.

Tulip has multiple years of happiness ahead of her. She just needs the right person to love her and give her endless treats!
