Golden Gate Basset Rescue rescues Basset
Hounds from abusive, abandoned and unwanted situations.
We were formed in 2005 after operating for nearly ten years under
the Northern California Basset Hound Club. Today, Golden Gate Basset
Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization. We exist
solely on donations.
Golden Gate Basset Rescue takes orphaned bassets into foster care,
usually in volunteer homes, where they are loved and cared for until
permanent, forever homes are found. We provide veterinary care, which
includes necessary vaccinations, spaying and neutering, heartworm
prevention, flea and tick prevention. Our wonderful volunteers spend
time with the dogs to evaluate them, deal with any behavioral issues,
and restore them to full health with good food and love.
Golden Gate Basset Rescue is based in Petaluma, CA, but covers all of Northern California. We can help to rescue and place dogs as far south as Monterey Bay, as far north as the Oregon Border and as far east as Reno NV. We work closely with our neighboring basset rescue organizations (see this page).
If you are looking for help with surrendering a basset hound, or adopting one, please look to your local organizations first. We can help you find them if necessary.
We are just beginning to build our website. Please, browse the pages. Learn about Basset Hounds. Make sure this is the right breed for you. If you already have a basset, learn how to care for it. Find out about our chat groups and member forums. Then do one or all of the following:
